Corsica 2015//Part I

04:04

Hey!
As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been writing over the past two weeks because I have been on a family holiday to Corsica! Corsica is a French island in between France and Italy and they predominantly speak French there. Instead of giving you a long massive post for you all I'm going to split it up into the main things that we did and do a few mini posts focusing on those.

The first few days were mostly just exploring the town we were staying in (Saint Florent) and getting to know the area where we were going to be for two weeks. Saint Florent has a harbor which plays host to a mind-boggling amount of expensive boats. Some looked like hotels or small houses rather than boats! It's a old town with very pretty streets and insanely good food (I basically lived off of pizza and raviloi for two weeks, it was too damn good).
There is also a old castle kinda building (my mum compared to Old Sarum in Salisbury) at the top of the town called the Citadelle which is incredibly beautiful and is the venue for the annual Porto Latino festival, more on that in a few posts time. We headed up there one evening where there was this, one of many, insane sunsets shedding this orange glow around us.

A few days later, we took a boat ride to a local beach called Lotu. We woke up quite early that morning (Corsica is an hour ahead so 7 o'clock felt like 6) and grabbed a quick breakfast from one of the cafes in the centre of town. Their coffee was some of the best I've even had, 10/10 highly recommend.

The ride was about half an hour long which was quick and wasn't too bumpy, even better as I can't stomach rough seas, story later to come. It's one of the prettiest and most popular beaches in Saint Florent and I can say for sure that both of those are definitely true. The beach has some of clearest water I've ever seen which is this amazing light blue colour and the sand was white and perfectly clean. Corsica should be very proud of its beaches!!
