Dublin 2014

Hello Lovelies!

Last Tuesday, some of the language students and I travelled to Ireland to do some work which would help with our studies (and some which wouldn't)!
The first day (Tuesday 11th) was mostly travelling and settling in to our hostel. We stayed in the Generator hostel which was very well laid out and structured. We caught a Ryanair flight to Dublin at 9:40 meaning that I had to be at college for 6 and awake at 4:30! Again, this was a very early start:(
That evening we went to a pub which claims to be the oldest in Ireland for a evening of storytelling and folklore. It also included a meal which was extremely good, I had chicken caesar salad, beef and guinness stew and chocolate fudge cake, yum. Lots of different stories we're told about legends and myths in Ireland, including ones about fairies. There was also some music which we all epically failed at clapping in time to. We were in hysterics by the end of the evening!

The next day (Wednesday 12th) we had a tour of Kilmainham Jail and the Guinness Factory. Both of these we're very interesting to learn about. The weather was truly awful on Wednesday and a half hour walk to the Guinness Factory in torrential rain wasn't really my cup of tea!
After both these tours, myself and a few others headed back to the hostel to get cleaned up a little. We then headed downstairs where a few of us (Kirstie, Jordan, Rob, Adam and I) got a late lunch and played a little bit of poole. We then walked into the town to Penny's which is the Irish version of Primark, we mucked around in there for a little while picking out clothes for each other and a fluorescent hoodie for Rob. On the way to Penny's we also found Connor and bought him with us. We were meeting everyone at TGI Fridays for dinner (it was Adam's birthday) so headed there next.
Dinner at TGI's with everyone was really great and we had a few good laughs as well. After this, a few people in the group headed back to the hostel while our little group (minus Adam and plus Frankie and Meg) walked to the shop down the road from the hostel. Meg bought some really gross milk and we picked up a few things for Adam as a birthday present (you guys know what I'm talking about;)) We walked back to the hostel and chilled in everyone else's rooms for a while and gave Adam his present. We went to bed around 12:30am.

On our last full day of the trip, (Thursday 13th) we did more language based activities. We went to the National Library and the James Joyce Centre both of which we're very interesting. The building in which the James Joyce Centre is beautiful and very very pretty! These took up the majority of the day but in the afternoon Kirsite, Connor and I wandered around the town for a little while and found a shortcut back to the hostel which we were very proud of. That evening we went to the pizza place across the road which had huge pizzas (16inch!) that we're very tasty. This was 100% a good meal! Kirstie and I also went to the food market across the road and got a bit over excited. We got so much good for only €20! That evening, we went and saw Dara O'Briain perform who was extremely funny. I was in tears of laughter at one point it was that hilarious! This was a highlight of the trip for me.
The final day was again mostly travelling. Unlucky for us, there was a accident on the M25 and M3 meaning that we had to use a different route home. What was supposed to take 1hr 30min - 2hr took 2hrs 30min nearly 3hrs. I was knackered by the time I got home!
But, overall I had a brill time out in Dublin, thankyou to everyone who made is memorable and to Rob for organising it all for us! I met some new people and got to know some better, all of them are fabulous!
